Grey’s Anatomy Co-Stars Spotted Together Sparking Romance Speculation
Two actors from the popular medical drama Grey’s Anatomy have been photographed together in what appears to be a romantic outing, suggesting their professional relationship may have evolved into something more personal.
Caterina Scorsone and E.R. Fightmaster were captured by photographers on Monday as they departed the Highly Likely cafe in Los Angeles, walking hand-in-hand following what seemed to be a lunch date. The sighting has fueled speculation about a potential real-life romance between the co-stars.
In the images, the 44-year-old Scorsone was dressed casually in a green shirt featuring the word ‘oui’ paired with a coordinating green baseball cap. Her companion, 33-year-old Fightmaster, opted for a white button-down shirt, brown trousers, and a baseball cap for their outing.
The two actors previously portrayed romantic interests on the medical series. Scorsone plays Dr. Amelia Shepherd, while Fightmaster took on the role of Dr. Kai Bartley. Their characters engaged in a relationship during the show’s eighteenth and nineteenth seasons before ultimately parting ways.
Scorsone has been a fixture on the medical drama since 2010, initially appearing in the seventh season as the sister of Dr. Derek Shepherd, portrayed by Patrick Dempsey. She also featured prominently in the spin-off series Private Practice for three seasons before becoming a permanent cast member of the main show in its eleventh season.
The actress was previously married to musician Rob Giles, with their union lasting from 2009 to 2020. The former couple shares three daughters: Eliza, age 13, Paloma, age 9, and Lucinda, age 6.
Fightmaster made history as the first nonbinary doctor character on Grey’s Anatomy when they joined the cast in season 18. Their character worked as a neuroscientist at a research facility in Minnesota, where they collaborated with Amelia and Dr. Meredith Grey on Parkinson’s disease research.
The on-screen relationship between their characters developed gradually, with Amelia and Kai eventually pursuing a long-distance romance. However, their storyline concluded in season 19 when Kai departed for a career opportunity in London, leading to their breakup.
The relationship represented a significant milestone for Amelia’s character development, marking her first major same-sex relationship on the series. Previously, her romantic storylines had exclusively involved male partners, including relationships that resulted in children.
Since the conclusion of that storyline, Amelia’s character has been involved with other female characters on the show, including Dr. Monica Beltran and more recently Dr. Toni Wright, demonstrating the character’s continued exploration of her sexuality.
Representatives for both actors have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the nature of their relationship.
